How to apply for this popular Visa

There are two ways to apply for this authorization:

  • From your country of origin through the territorially competent Consular Office. In this case, a visa valid for 1 year will be granted, which must be modified to the corresponding residence permit once you enter Spain.

  • While in Spain as a tourist. In this case, the duration of the residence authorization will be directly for 3 years, so you skip a step in this case. Here, the application is directed to the UGE.

  • MOVETOSPAIN Tip - If you can enter Spain without having to apply for a Schengen tourist visa at the consulate, we recommend going through the process from Spain, given the diversity of criteria applied by consular offices.

Can the family members of the main applicant work?

Absolutely. Their entitlements are actually more expansive because they are permitted to work as salaried employees or as self-employed individuals. Meanwhile, the primary permit holder must continue to meet the requirements that justified their residence, and must notify authorities of any alterations to their situation.
